Description

Housing has long been considered a key challenge for the future of Hong Kong. There are long waiting lists for public housing and subsidised housing schemes are heavily oversubscribed; market housing is increasingly cramped and unaffordable. Addressing the city’s acute housing issues is at the top of the agenda for citizens and the government, and necessary to reposition Hong Kong as a liveable and sustainable world class city.
Increasing the attainability of housing is one of the Urban Land Institute (ULI)’s global mission priorities, and the ULI community is committed to addressing the housing challenges in Hong Kong. While much attention is paid to the public housing in which almost half of Hong Kong residents live, 53% of Hong Kong residents live in housing developed by the private sector.

How can private housing be part of the solution? What gaps need to be bridged? How can it become more attainable and sustainable? How can government policy enable better outcomes, and what forms of public-private partnership will create benefits for all?

Join us for the ULI Hong Kong Housing Conference on 5 - 6 March 2024, where we will focus on impactful and actionable conversations shaping the future of this city.
